Missed calls with nobody to answer

Interactive Voicemail is our own AI phone agent for the calls a small business misses. Those calls come in after hours, during a job, or in the middle of a showing, and a standard voicemail box gives the caller nothing back. It can't answer a question about hours or pricing, and it can't tell the owner that a live lead is on the line right now. A missed call is often a missed lead. We wanted an agent that picks up, answers the caller in plain conversation, gets the details to the owner, and lets a person step in while the caller is still there.

The biggest design call was to watch calls live instead of only logging transcripts after they end. We built a live-call monitor on a Cloudflare Worker with a Durable Object, along with a takeover and transfer path, because the value sits in reaching the lead while they are still on the phone.

• Designed the Vapi voice agent. It opens by asking which kind of business the caller wants to hear from, then runs a flagship timeshare demo, one of four ready-made industry demos (pools, cabinetry, CBD and property management), or a roleplay for any other business.
• Built the Worker that receives end-of-call webhooks behind fail-closed authentication, tracks each call and its transcript in a Durable Object, and feeds the monitor page.
• Set up call notification emails through Resend, so the owner hears about a call as soon as it ends.
• Wrote a prompt-logic test battery for call routing, cancellation questions handled with no promises or deadlines, money and legal refusals, prompt injection and abusive callers, plus a 34-check replay suite for the Worker.
• Shipped the landing site on Vercel, live on two domains, with a signup form that posts to the Worker and filters out spam.

Live online, with phone testing still open

The site and the demo agent are live at interactivevoicemail.co. The agent passed 13 of 13 prompt-logic scenarios run against the live assistant, and a real test call placed through the voice platform reached the live-call monitor end to end. Call notification emails were verified on July 12, 2026, with a real message delivered. Two checks still need live phone calls: the telephony gate, which tests voice and interruptions on real calls, and the first live takeover transfer. Both were still open at our last review on August 26, 2026, and the agent goes to prospects only after they pass. Text follow-up through Twilio and a branded custom voice are next on the roadmap.
